Tea Rooms .. AT MY ROSE GARDENS

Visit our Tea Rooms  .. AT MY ROSE GARDEN

Set amongst our lovely Heirloom Roses, our virtual Tea Rooms AT MY ROSE GARDEN provides a moment of respite from the every-day humdrum of life.  We offer a virtual escape where we invite you to visit at any time of the day or night for a ‘time-out’ with your favourite brew.  Our luscious herbal and rose teas, and old-fashioned cake offerings, are presented alongside gorgeous vintage china and linen.  As part of our Tea Rooms ephemera, we regularly offer time-honoured snippets and recipes for your ‘browsing’ pleasure.

Chamomile tea using chamomile flowers straight from the garden ... delicious

The best chamomile flower to use in tea is the annual German chamomile, (Matricaria recutita) from the Asteraceae family of plants.  Traditionally used as a tea to relieve stress, our lovely white daisy-like chamomile flowers are picked fresh from under the Moss roses At My Rose Garden.  Ensure the chamomile flowers you use have not been exposed to pesticides or herbicides. Pick the flowers with a stalk so that you can grasp them together in a bunch. Shake the bunched flowers upside down briskly to remove any dust or tiny insects.

Chamomile flowers also dry well and once dried can be kept stored in a clean glass jar in a dark cupboard.  They also make a lovely decorative feature in the pantry. To make the tea, steep a handful of chamomile flowers in just boiled water and allow to infuse for several minutes.  The flowers have a subtle almost honey-like aroma when steeped that is not so apparent in store-bought chamomile tea bags.  Now strain the pale amber brew into a favourite china tea cup.  Add a slice of lemon and a teaspoon of honey if you prefer.  Here At My Rose Garden, we prefer the fragrance and subtle flavour of the chamomile flowers unadulterated.

After a long day, sit back in a comfy chair, relax and slowly sip this subtly flavoured brew

..  surely one of life's simple joys!       Enjoy!!
